FAQ
-
Compatible RTD Types
The module supports Pt100, Pt1000, Ni20, and common industrial RTD sensors. Select the sensor curve (IEC 60751 or JIS) in the configuration software. -
4-Wire RTD Support
2-wire, 3-wire, and 4-wire RTD configurations are supported. 4-wire eliminates lead resistance and provides the highest accuracy. -
Difference From 5X00119G03
G03 adds enhanced diagnostics, wider RTD type support, and improved isolation. G02 is the standard 8-channel variant. -
Hot-Swap Capability
The module supports hot-swap replacement when installed in a compatible Ovation rack.
Installation Guide
- Step 1: Install the module into the Ovation RTD I/O slot. Confirm keying matches to prevent mis-insertion.
- Step 2: Wire RTD sensors to the terminal block. For 3-wire, connect two leads to one excitation terminal and the third to the sense terminal. For 4-wire, separate excitation and sense pairs.
- Step 3: In Ovation Developer Studio, assign RTD type, wire configuration, and engineering units (°C or °F).
- Step 4: Enable open-circuit and short-circuit diagnostics to detect sensor failures.
- Step 5: Verify readings against a calibrated temperature bath or ice-point reference (0°C for Pt100 = 100.00 Ω).
Selection Tips
Select 5X00119G02 for 8-channel temperature monitoring with Pt100 and Ni20 RTDs. For 4-channel applications, 5X00118G02 provides a smaller footprint. For 16-channel density, use 5X00120G02. For long cable runs, 4-wire RTDs eliminate lead resistance errors.
