FAQ

  1. 120 VAC Load Driving
    This module is a 24 VDC solid-state output. For 120/240 VAC loads, use relay output modules (1C31222G01 or 1C31223G01).
  2. Flyback Diode Requirements
    The module includes internal clamping circuitry. External flyback diodes are recommended for large inductive loads above 5 W to extend module life.
  3. Sourced vs Sinked Outputs
    5X00223G01 is sourced (PNP). It provides +24 VDC to the load. Sinking (NPN) modules pull load to ground. Verify load wiring compatibility.
  4. Simultaneous Full Load Operation
    The 4.0 A aggregate limit means average current per channel must not exceed 0.25 A if all 16 channels load simultaneously. Stagger high-current loads across modules.

Installation Guide

  • Step 1: Install the module into the Ovation digital output slot. Confirm keying alignment.
  • Step 2: Wire loads between channel output (+24 VDC sourced) and load common (0 VDC). Do not connect loads between output and AC neutral.
  • Step 3: For inductive loads (solenoids, relays), install an external flyback diode across the coil. Connect cathode to +, anode to −.
  • Step 4: In Ovation Developer Studio, assign channel tags. Configure pulse outputs for totalizers and set fail-safe states (hold last, off, or preset).
  • Step 5: Test each channel. Command ON and verify 24 VDC at the terminal with load disconnected. Connect load and confirm actuation.

Selection Tips

Select 5X00223G01 for 16-channel 24 VDC digital output to drive solenoids, relays, and indicators. For relay outputs driving AC loads, use 1C31222G01 (high power) or 1C31223G01 (low power). For pulse outputs above 100 Hz, verify switching latency against application requirements or select a high-speed digital output module.
