Installation Guide
- Step 1: Install 5X00321G01 into the Ovation communication slot or DIN rail carrier.
- Step 2: Connect Profibus DP cable to the 9-pin D-Sub connector. Pin 3 = B-line (red), Pin 8 = A-line (green), shield to chassis ground.
- Step 3: Activate termination resistors at both ends of the Profibus segment.
- Step 4: In Ovation Developer Studio, add the Profibus DP network. Import the GSD file for each slave device and map I/O data to controller tags.
- Step 5: Commission the network. Verify all slaves reach Data_Exchange state. Check diagnostic counters for timeouts or frame errors.
Selection Tips
Select 5X00321G01 when integrating Profibus DP devices into Ovation. For Profinet, Ethernet/IP, or Modbus TCP devices, use the Ovation Ethernet link module (5X00419G02). For Modbus RTU serial devices, use 1C31166G01 or 1C31166G02 serial link controllers. Verify GSD file availability from device vendors before committing to Profibus DP architecture.
