1. Fieldbus Protocol
   The DFM02 supports PROFIBUS DP and serial fieldbus communication. It connects distributed I/O and smart devices to the Freelance 2000 controller.
2. Baud Rate
   PROFIBUS DP supports baud rates from 9.6 kbps to 12 Mbps. The module automatically detects network speed.
3. Device Count
   One PROFIBUS DP segment supports 32 devices without repeaters. With repeaters, the network expands to 126 devices.
4. Cable Type
   Use shielded twisted pair PROFIBUS cable (Type A) with characteristic impedance of 150 ohms. Maximum segment length is 1200 meters at 9.6 kbps.

Installation Guide

• Step 1: Power down the Freelance 2000 rack. Insert DFM02 into the fieldbus communication slot.
• Step 2: Connect PROFIBUS DP cable to the module terminal. Connect shield to ground at one end only.
• Step 3: Install PROFIBUS terminators at both ends of the network segment.
• Step 4: In the Freelance 2000 engineering station, import GSD files for each slave device and map I/O data.
• Step 5: Commission the network. Verify all slaves reach Data_Exchange state. Check diagnostic counters for errors.

Selection Tips

Choose DFM02 for PROFIBUS DP serial fieldbus communication in Freelance 2000 systems. For Ethernet-based communication, use DFE01 or DFE03. For CAN bus applications, select DLM01 or DLM02.
